Texas Instruments: Calculators and Education Technology

Texas Instruments has an extensive web site, hoping to inform educators, students, parents and administrators on the benefits of using their technology in the classroom.

Software running on their calculators boasts that it can improve investigation, insight and understanding.

To be sure there are probably studies that show that students learn more, or at least get better at the mechanics of problem-solving using a device, but is that real problem solving?

These devices are now allowed on many exams, does that create a gap between students that can afford such devices and those that cannot?

I would like to look at more resources on this site to develop an opinion about technology (and in particular devices) and their impact on real student learning and ability.
